Preconference "Mindfulness: Research and Practice"

ERFCON 2017 MindfulnessIt is our pleasure to invite you to the preconference "Mindfulness: Research and Practice". This one-day preconference will be held on 16th May, 2017, a day before the start of the larger, ERFCON 2017 conference, at the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Zagreb (Campus Borongaj, Borongajska cesta 83f, Zagreb), Croatia.

The preconference aims to explore different aspects of mindfulness and compassion in order to better understand their potential in the prevention and treatment of various mental, emotional, and behavioural problems, and the promotion of mental health in general. Mindfulness will be approached from a perspective of various contexts: the education system, learning and teaching, clinical work, social work, and mindfulness in organizations. In addition, the preconference will explore methodological issues in mindfulness and compassion research, including insights from neuroscience.

We are pleased to announce that two experienced researchers and practitioners in the field of mindfulness and compassion will contribute to the conference with their invited talks: Dr David McMurtry (Inspired by Learning, Scotland and Croatia) and Kevin Hawkins (MindWell Education, Czech Republic). In order to provide an opportunity to experience mindfulness, seven different workshops will be offered to conference attendees (some of them will be held in Croatian, others in English).

We are very excited to provide an opportunity for researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders to meet, to exchange experiences, to share, and be inspired. The discussion on mindfulness and its potentials will continue at the main ERFCON 2017 conference.

We look forward to welcoming you to Zagreb, Croatia, on 16th May, 2017!
